STOP THE PRESSES! WriteOnTime To Blog For ADF

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 5:28 PM

You were introduced to the first FANTASTIC BLOGGER for ADF last week: DameNellie!

WOOT WOOT! <3 damenellie <3

This week, we're happy to unveil a second Forest Blogger: WriteOnTime!

Yeah I know you already know who WriteOnTime is because she's a VIP Author up in here in this Forest, but what do you REALLY KNOW about her?

For example, did you know WriteOnTime's a feisty blonde?

Did you know she loves chocolate?? Don't be shocked! It's true.

Are you aware of the fact that she is totally committed to staying on top of current events?  Yeah. SRSLY!

How about the fact that WriteOnTime writes Anderson Cooper fic under the pen name 360WaysToGlory...

okay I made this one up ENTIRELY. she does no such thing, and if that pen name exists out there in the cyber world, it isn't her... probably.

Ugh. She's gonna kill me for that AC RPF JOKE.

OH WELL, THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT YOU NEED TO GATHER ROUND THIS CAMPFIRE AND CELEBRATE WRITEONTIME. SHE'S GONNA BE BLOGTASTIC! SHE EVEN ALREADY TURNED IN HER FIRST ARTICLE, BUT OUR BLOG PAGE ISN'T QUITE READY FOR IT YET, SO YOU ALL GET TO STEEP IN ANTICIPATION FOR A WHILE.

So, yeah. HATERS TO HIS LEFT.  WRITEONTIME ROCKS!

What if?

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 4:26 PM

 Hey campers!  I'm at work, dealing with craziness, and I think it infected my teeny tiny brain!  What if Summit  all of a sudden gave a damm about twi- fans (see what I mean about craziness?!)  and decided to film one fan fic story as an extra to, say, the Eclipse DVD?  Which of the many thousands of treasured epics (or one shots!) should it be?Wishful and utterly futile, I know, but which one would YOU  choose?  I vote for "Toye"  Yum!  Rob with his spooky voice!

Writing Fanfic About Fanfic

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 2:29 PM

So, this campfire came about as a result of Jandco's campfire yesterday.

I want to know everyone's opinion on Fanfic About Fanfic.

We've all had fics where we wish something else, something other, had happened. Or we just want more.

As people who enjoy fanfic, it's pretty much in our nature to want to interact with the stories we read.

So... have you ever written a fic about a fic or wanted to write a fic based on the characters or stories you have read?

Authors, how would you feel if someone wrote a fanfic based on your fanfic?

And finally, thoughts about characters within fics who write / read fic... does it pull you out of the story, do you like it?

And remember everyone, be respectful or the rabid plotbunnies will get you and infect all your stories with Mary Sues.

Jersey Shore meets Twilight?

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 1:14 PM

HEY, can someone rec me a Jersey Shore inspired Twific? I mean, it MUST exist right? Here’s what I’m thinking:

Ronnie = Emmett

The Situation = Edward

Pauly D = Jasper

Vinny = Jake

Sammi = Bella

Snooki = Alice

JWow = Rosalie

Angelina =  IDK…Angela?

Carlisle = that guy who owns the t-shirt shop they work at.

I’M PRETTY SURE IT WOULD BE THE PERFECT FIC, SO SOMEONE MUST HAVE ALREADY WRITTEN IT RIGHT? Imagine the trouble they’d get up to on the boardwalk or at Karma. Or the good bro-time the boys could spend at the barber shop, the gym, and tanning. WOULDN’T YOU FINALLY LIKE TO SEE EDWARD WITH A TAN?

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

PS: I totally don’t watch Jersey Shore, that show is totally pathetic.

Midnight Sun

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 1:00 PM

 So... Yeah, further down I read this campfire about someone wanting Stephenie to finish Midnight Sun.

Firstly, yeah, totally agree!

But secondly... I just want you all to imagine yourself being in Steph's shoes. Okay, so... You've got like millions of fans wanting you to continue this draft you wrote for fun, which later was accidentally leaked on the internet which made you ooberhurt and upset. All of these fans are pushing you to finish something you're not even sure you want to continue with. Imagine the expectations, people! Steph's gotta feel OOBERSTRESSED!

Something we all writers now: It is not easy to write a book. And what does not make you feel better is if fans (replace with reviewers, so we can actually relate to it) are so eager that you continue writing it makes you feel stressed! THEN YOU FORGET HOW MUCH YOU LOVE WRITING, AND FEEL LIKE YOU'RE ONLY WRITING FOR FANS/REVIEWERS!!! (of course, in a way, you do. But you should write because it is fun!)

Now, we don't want this to happen to Stephenie, right?

I'm not saying we should stop encourage her writing. I'm just saying that maybe we should imagine ourselves in her shoes for a moment, before criticizing her for not finishing what she started.

Personally, I would LOVE to read the whole Midnight Sun story. But not if Stephenie wrote it because she felt she had to.

So, what I wanted to come to: Do you agree? Or maybe you don't?

 Hi, Im new, you know this.  I´ve campfired before (like twice :O) .. I found this through Jandco who pimps this site on her profile (hi jandco its me, your fangirl tiny20! wave!)  ANYWAYS .. I believe that I have really good taste in fanfics - we all know this isnt excatly classical literature but that doesnt change the fact that we can get very invested in fanfics.  Also I know that writers are most often really proud when they get good reviews and finish stories and such .. catching my drift?

NOW .. i have campfired about this author and story before BUT COME ON YOU GOTTA .. Im probably not gonna give up until everybody who frequents this site has read and reviewed at least one (first and foremost Volition cuz IT´S SECOND BEST TO WIDE AWAKE) Rochelle how i fangirl more than Jandco, http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1723736/Rochelle_Allison - YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT I PROMISE YOU

For some crazy reason it´s very important to me that this author gets alot of attention because she´s SO GOOD and she creates the BEST BELLA.

whiney and bitchy bellas are boring - this is like .. whoza ..

anyways, I am leaving for Barcelona and am gonna stay at Arts hotel, make step daddy pay for everything and spend a lot of time with my sister and our friends .. you guys go to http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1723736/Rochelle_Allison

... I mean would i lie to you ?

Stranded on an Island - Part 2

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 10:22 AM

Yesterday Jandco asked which three Twilight characters you'd take with you to be stranded on an island.

Some of you cheated and named some FANFIC characters. Well guess what? That just disqualifies you from playing today.

JUST KIDDING!

I want to know what three characters from Twi-Fic you'd want to be stranded on an island with AND WHY. Don't leave off the why.

Thank you.

Auctions & Deadlines

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 9:57 AM

This has been gnawing at me for quite some time. The timing couldn't be any better now that the auctions are back in full swing. I'm not going to harp on the intentions and if people should enter. That would be another campfire and about three more. Okay so here is my question/issue...

Should there be delivery deadlines for these auctions? I am still waiting on a story from last year's auction, which was promised to be delivered long ago. I have also spoken to people that said they haven't received baskets they have won.

Regarding stories, should authors provide a deadline before offering up their items?  I mean realistic deadlines, not "at least by June"

story rec

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 8:13 AM

ok i think i can do this, if not rangers feel free to delete....

I seen this story rec on twitter this morning and thought i would check it out, i am soo glad i did....its about 10 chapters in and the chapters are not that long but it is so good.....

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5807324/10/With_or_Without_You# by Rochelle Allison

Edward and Bella were once high school sweethearts. Years later, their lives converge unexpectedly, forcing Bella to deal with and accept things she's long since tried to move past. This story started with "Trampoline", once a WitFit prompt.

So now im in the mood for these types of fics hurt/romance/comfort....any suggestions????

Umm, where is Midnight Sun?

Tuesday March 30, 2010 at 5:23 AM

From Stephenie's website -

Surprise!

I have a new book coming out. It's called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it's more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.

Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it's a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilightwas even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.

This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twilight novels. Later, when the concept for The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

At the same time, it came in handy for the Eclipse film. Melissa (Rosenberg, the screenwriter) had a ton of questions about what exactly was going on in Seattle, how Victoria managed things, what Riley was like, etc. I let her read what I had then, and later gave the whole thing to the director, David Slade. David asked if Xavier, Bryce, and Jodelle (Riley, Victoria, and Bree) could read it as well, so all the parties involved would end up having a really strong foundation for their characters before the cameras started rolling. I was pleased that this side of the story would make it into the film and was looking forward to including it in the Guide.

Keeping it Confidential

(Keeping it confidential: Here is Jodelle next to the bucket of waterlogged ashes that were once the pages of her copy of the Bree manuscript.)

Then I got the news: my "short story" was nearly 200 pages long when typeset. It was too long to fit into the Guide—without ending up with a tome as heavy as the Oxford English Dictionary. My publisher approached me with the idea of releasing the Bree story on its own. One of the major benefits of this plan was that it would be out before the movie, so people would get to know Bree before they saw her in the film. That made sense to me, and we decided to go ahead with it.

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift. My publisher was awesome and embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

One other aspect of this release is the plan to give a more important gift to people who really need it. One dollar of each book purchased in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in great need. We're going to have an option online as well, so you can choose to make a donation if you want when you read the story online. I hope you will. I think that we can really help a lot of people with this.

I really hope you all enjoy this story. I had a blast writing it. I'm glad that after all this time cooling her heels in my files, Bree finally gets her chance to shine.

Thanks for all the support,

Steph
