Just hold on. I'm busy procrastinating right now.

Thursday January 14, 2010 at 4:38 PM

What are you putting off?

I've been sitting in Starbucks all day enjoying the interwebz, since there is still no 21st century technology at my dad's new house. Since I'm only online every 2 or 3 days, I have a HUGE to-do list that needs to be addressed anytime I get web access.

So far today I've been working on a certain story whose title begins with the letter S, and I've been ignoring absolutely everything else like paying bills, answering e-mails, and taking care of general business.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING RIGHT NOW & WHAT SHOULD YOU BE DOING INSTEAD?

to make it easier for you to answer, you can use this handy format:

i'm jennyfuckingfly

i should be fixing camper log-in issues for ADF

instead i am writing Sanctuary.

I'm not shocked easily, but this is going way way too far! Pedophilia is a real thing that is happening out there. An horrible disgusting and unforgivable thing. There should NOT be any sort of encouragement or praise for that kind of thing.

VOMIT HORROR DISGUST !!!!!!!

I've reported it. Please do too.

THIS IS HORRIFYING!

Real Life Heartfail

Thursday January 14, 2010 at 10:41 AM

I need some rec's for some seriously good 'pick-me-up' stories without ANY heartfail. I dont care the pairing or length just as long as they're completed stories...

This is my first campfire on here and I am doing it mainly because I am going through real life heartfail right now - My husband asked me for a divorce this week after being together for 8 years. Complete heartfail and I need something to make me smile whether it be a damn good story or some smutty pics of our favorite Cullen men. Please!

Oh, and for those who read my story Engine 17 on ff.net.....yeah, I apologize...it might be a while for an update....

Ashley Greene doesn't want to be a role model

Twilight's Ashley Greene says pressures of playing Alice almost gave her a 'mini-breakdown

Actress Ashley Greene reveals she struggled to cope with instant fame

ASHLEY Greene says she had a “mini-breakdown” as she struggled to cope with instant fame after starring in Twilight.

Twilight Saga actress Ashley Greene said the scrutiny and pressure she felt after shooting to fame gave her a “mini-breakdown”.

The 22-year-old admits she still feels uneasy that fans Twilight, in which she plays Alice Cullen, view her as a role model but refuses to put on an act to please other people.

She said: “There was a moment in time where I was kind of having this mini-breakdown because it was all very new, and it was all being thrown at me really quickly, and I was going, ‘Why are people reporting on this? Why do people care what I’m wearing or what I’m eating, and why are people looking down on me because I’m not wearing high heels?’ That’s the downside to being in the public eye.

“When girls come up and say, You’re my role model,’ it’s really flattering, but it’s also really scary because I’m not perfect and I’m going to make mistakes. I’ve just decided that I have to continue to live my life and do what I do. Hopefully, people love me because of who I am, not who I pretend to be.”

The actress was working as a waitress when she landed the role and is still amazed at how quickly her life changed because she hasn’t yet had time to reflect on her success.

She told Interview magazine: “It’s a really hard thing to wrap your head around.  was working at a restaurant, I booked the role in Twilight, put in my two weeks’ notice, got fitted, flew to Portland, filmed, and then it started getting hype. That helped me get my foot into certain doors before the movie even came out.

“I did four independent films during the break between ‘Twilight’ and ‘New Moon’. I haven’t even really had time to sit back and process it all. But when you do finally sit back and think about it, it’s incredible.”

Abbreviations for fanfics...

Thursday January 14, 2010 at 7:54 AM

This is a complaint that I have with the fanfic community.  I know we all appreciate brevity when posting, and now with Twitter, the fewer words the better.

BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE SAYING WHEN YOU POST, "IHMFLY" (which is just an example, cuz its "I Hate Myself For Loving You" by Halo Jones)!!!!!!

Can we please please please write out the titles of the lesser known and NEWER works that are coming out?  I am an avid fanfic reader, but even I can't tell what's going on, and I want to be able to read these great fics ya'll are referencing!

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled programming.  THANK YOU!

And for your time:

Why are some fics more popular than others?

Thursday January 14, 2010 at 7:24 AM

Ok, I was just wondering what makes readers flock to certain stories? I am reading a couple of stories that I think are great, both are 10 or more chapters in, and haven't even had 300 reviews.

MotU has now over 30,000 reviews. Its one of the most reviewed in Twific right now.  The author only has one other story, and that one only has 1500 reviews so its not because a strong following. And I'm not taking anything away from this story, I love it and eagerly await updates, I'm just curious as to why people have latched on to this story.

Also,AG has a new story out. Its only 8 chapters in, and already has almost 2400 reviews. While Company Loves Misery is a good story, I think she could write a complete crap story and people would love it anyway because its AG.

Another thing I've noticed about the more popular or reviewed stories is that the Edward in almost all of these stories is fucked up in some kind of way. He almost always has some kind of terrible, hidden past, was abused in some kind of way, or is just a douche. Why do people, namely women, flock to the fucked up, bad boy?

Sending out an SOS

It's time to pull together.

As I'm sure many of you have heard, Haiti, is in a crisis right now, and needs our help, since they can't do it all by themselves.

I'm not very good with words, and I've asked my dear friend Mel if I can copy/paste from a post that she made earlier, she's much more eloquent than I am.

"So, I'm thinking that we can at least do our part, as small as our contributions may be. Please post about it, tweet about it, facebook about it, email about it. Whatever you have to do to bring attention to the cause.
As of now, there are huge discrepancies with the numbers coming in, and the death toll, but sadly, as Haiti is such an impoverished country, help relies mostly on us. The facts are that the initial death toll is estimated at 50,000 people. Many are dying in the streets though, because there is no help/no doctors. The main fear right now, is the eminent spreading of diseases such as cholera, because of lack of sanitation, no water, hardly any food, no actual method of disposing of bodies (these leads to vermin, bugs, and contamination).

Canadians attempting to contact family members or friends in Haiti can call the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade emergency operation centre at 1-800-387-3124

The State Department Operations Center has set up the following number for Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti:
1-888-407-4747

"For the moment, most organizations are asking for money donations, but I anticipate that in a couple of weeks, there will be a HUGE need for water bottles, and non-perishable food items. Maybe while you're at Costco you'll see a sale for water bottles? Try picking them up, and when the time comes, you'll be able to drop them off when they're taking donations? Or maybe you're going through your local supermarket's pamphlet and see a sale on canned beans, or canned mushrooms? How about you buy 5$ worth and drop them off when they take donations?

Honestly guys, it doesn't need to be a huge donation, but every thing counts."

As you can read, she's better at words than I am, and gets the point across.

So, please, please donate.

Leaving FB question

Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 8:08 PM

Do you leave feedback on a completed fiction?  I just realized I never have and it got me wondering.  Do authors check FB on completed stories long after they have finished? Should I be leaving FB? I now feel like I should. IDK?

My New Years Resolution was to leave FB everytime I read something and I am doing much better than before. I was utter fail at leaving reviews for a longtime.  So your opinons on this matter will help me. TIA!

Spiderman!

Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 7:05 PM

I couldn't ignore it, I had to share the pain...

tvnz.co.nz/twilight-news/twilight-star-next-spiderman-3329811

Twilight star Robert Pattinson could be the next Spiderman according to reports.

Toby Maguire, who starred as Peter Parker in the franchise's first three films, announced earlier this week that he is quitting the franchise.

Director Sam Raimi also announced he will not be back for another instalment.

"I am so proud of what we accomplished with the Spider-Man franchise over the last decade," 34-year-old Maguire says in a statement.

"Beyond the films themselves, I have formed some deep and lasting friendships. I am excited to see the next chapter unfold in this incredible story."

But just last week, Maguire told the BBC the crew were working to have the film out in 2011.

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios say a new Spider-Man film based on a script by James Vanderbilt will be released in 2012 that focuses on Peter Parker in high school.

It will have a new cast and filmmaking team.

Speculation is rife over who will replace Maguire.

Twilight star Pattinson is currently looking the most likely to assume the lead role, says the Daily Record.

However, the 23-year-old is said to be facing serious competition from Michael Cera of Superbad and Juno fame.

I don't know what more to say...

Oh twific how i've missed you

Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 6:12 PM

I haven't read twific for weeks.  ok, i lie, i finally caught up on 5 chaps of SoaPM last nite, but it had definitely been a while before that.  and the reason is this vvvv

yes, i've been cheating on the Cullens, but ^ these vamps are absolutely delicious.  I couldn't put down the books long enough to even open my laptop.

SO, tell me Campers...have you read the books?  Do you like them? Who is your favorite brother?  (mine is a tie between Phury and Zsadist and then comes Rehv and I can't wait for John's book)

Were you as surprised as I was with the complexity of the vamp world Ward had created and what a good job she did developing her characters (main and supporting)?  The plot in some of the books fall a bit flat, but the brothers more than make up for it.  it's interesting how writers can take the idea of vampires and turn them into completely different worlds

Talk to me please, I'm dying to know what you all think cause I can't get enough of the brotherhood, true?

oh, and I would love you forever if you could direct me to some V/Butch slash, even if Ward doesn't want it to be written

and here's some candy

Liking your writing.

Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 6:10 PM

So I've got a question for those us who write fic. (though readers are more than welcome to weigh in) I'm wondering how many people actually really like what they write. I know there's a thin line between being  humble, self-deprecating and being overly confident, and it's hard to be honest but eh, I'm curious.

Ever read over and think 'wow this sucks.what was I thinking?' or 'hey, it's actually pretty decent.'

Or can you not read back over it at all?

Do you ever read badfics and wonder if the author actually thinks it's good? Sometimes we assume this and slate them, but I hope it's not the case.

Or does your mind boggle at Stephenie Meyer actually thinking aspects of BD were good ideas?

Personally, I dislike more than I like. And while, there's a certain amount of pride in just creating something or in learning from mistakes, there's also the sense of embarrassment over something sucky.

Writers, how much do you actually like your stuff?  Readers, do you presume the writers think their stuff is good? idk. humour me.

also, hai there campers! I miss playing in the forest.

Heartfail

Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 1:54 PM

I want some heart fail. I, like everyone here I'm sure, have been reading Dear Isabella and its ripping me apart. I'm seriously in love with the story.

So, anyone know any real good heart fail stories out there?

Somewhere on the lines of:

Im sorry, I had to put that on there. But it gives the gist right?

Vagazzle

Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 12:50 PM

Okay, I thought this was really funny I HAD TO share it.

There's been so much glorification and fascination going on over a certain brooding vamp's SPARKLY disco stick, women can only take so much, we'll get jealous. If he can have sparkly private parts, we want ours to shine like a disco ball too. Or so it would seem. The good stuff is after the 2:30 mark:

Jennifer Love Hewitt decided to give her lady business the Edward Cullen treatment! LOL And she thinks we all should do the same. I've never actually thought about this, but... really? I mean I would definitely prefer it to a piercing.

Did any of you get jealous of awesomeness that is the sparkly peen? Would you vagazzle?

Writer's block?

Wednesday January 13, 2010 at 12:42 PM

So, I hope this is Twilight related enough to be ok.  If not, I apologize, and you can punish me as you see fit.

Anywho....I love writing.  In fact, I used to write fanfic just for myself and my friends for the hell of it, long before I knew about ff.net and so on.  However, I feel horrible because I've started a story and have no idea when the next update will be because my brain just shuts down when it comes to that.  I feel horrible because I know that some (not a lot, but still) people read it and I feel like I'm letting them down.

I have a feeling that this lack of inspiration is due to being forced to write paper after paper on the same damn stuff over and over again, repeating every 10 weeks with one week off per year.  Anyone have any writer's block breaking ideas? tips? or better yet, anyone want to be my personal kick in the ass, person I can bounce things off of?   (just a warning, I have a pretty perverted mind at times....well, always.  You've been warned)
