So in the a/n for the newest chapter of Sanctuary, it says that people who follow ADF on twitter will get messages re: mail, the emails for the chapter.

I don't tweet. Am I going to be missing something from the story because of this?

The chapter is meant to mimick the experience of email. You never know when they're coming. When you want one, you check often.

I am working on my first AH fic, After Last Summer, and am getting downhearted by the lack of reviews. I am, however, getting regular alerts from FFn for story/author alerts and favourites.

What is your view on sending a PM to people, thanking them for reading and asking them politely to write a review?

I once received a note like that from an author and was appalled by their forwardness. Now that I am writing my own fic, I understand how important reviews are and comment on every chapter I read.

So, my question is, have you ever sent or received a PM like that? What is your opinion on it?

Hello Everyone!

I know there was campfire before saying how Rob knows about fanfiction (and probably reads it) but it got me wondering, do you think he writes any? So what type of stories do you think Rob would write? Angst, Fluff, etc.

So I'm sitting here reading Scotch, Gin and the New Girl but needed to take a break from reading. 

Yesterday I had the day off from work and I had all these grand plans of being productive.  Some of the usual things that needed to be done - cleaning the house, laundry, etc. as well as the plan to start the great job search of 2010.  Unfortunately, I was not very productive.  I got all caught up in reading fics and messing around here at ADF and Twitter.  Before I knew it, the day was over and I'd barely gotten anything productive done.  Then today at work, I spent probably at least half my time reading more fics and not getting nearly as much work done as I probably should have...

So, I was just wondering... does this ever happen to any of you?  What have you put off doing because you were sucked into this fan fic world?  Is there any one story in particular that you just were unable to stop reading until you finished it?  Just curious and hoping I'm not the only one this happens to...

Hi everyone!

So... I've said a few times already, I don't read angsty fics. I'm all about the happy fluff. I can read the occasional heartfail in a fic if the angst isn't dragged out, but that's about it. And I know I'm missing out.

So, I know there's a lot of angst lovers out there, and I'm asking for your help...

You want to make people discover the goodness and epic amazingness that is angst? You want to get wusspervs like me (I'm gonna say it now, since I know someone's gonna ask: a wussperv is basically a smutty fluff lover that only roots for canon pairings. It's a ppss term) out of their pink bubble and make them read well-written, tummy-ripping angst?

Do it. Convince me (I mean, don't just give me a link. Talk me into clicking on it). Rec me some good angst that is well-written, that has good characterizations (i.e a Bella that doesn't make me want to slap her) and that will make me want to stick around and not flounce at the first hint of hf.

What I'm asking is a story that you just can't stop reading. You know, the one that pulls you in and makes you hit the "next" arrow before you even realise. A story that you can immerse yourself in.

And if you can convince me to read something, maybe I'll post my reactions as I read in this post so you get to watch me crumble right before your eyes (fun times)

Pwease? I have pretty much read every goof fluffy fic that is out there and I'm out of stuff to read so I thought I could try out angst I want to expand my reading preferences.

It has to be complete, though, and multi-chaptered (I have to have time to get attached to the characters). And E/B. Aaaand an HEA (to me, HEA = B and E are together. Doesn't matter how, or if they're both dead. Mutually Assured Destruction and Carpe Noctem had HEAs in my book. I know, I'm weird)

And if nobody cares and this post dies I'll be very very sad

So I recently had an interesting conversation with a reviewer about how authors reply to reviews and would like to know what other people think. How "should" writers reply to reviews? I read an article on how to review (on TLYDF I think) - is there an article on replying?

What things in particular do readers really like or dislike in review replies? How "should" writers respond to flames or weird reviews? If you've written a long review, do you want the writer to comment on the points you've made or do most people just want a "thank you"?

And yes, I know. It's just fanfic and we shouldn't take it so seriously, but I'm curious about other people's opinions on this.

What show/book/movie would you like to see crossover with Twilight? I know some people don't like crossovers but I was wondering if you could see the Twilight characters in any other world where would it be?

I would love to see a Doctor Who and Twilight crossover.... it would just be epicly awesome, reading about the Doctor trying to figure out how the Cullens could possibly be since he doesn't believe in the supernatural, well... ghosts, vampires, werewolves and all that. Also the Doctor is quite arrogant and it would just be so cool to see him banter with Carlisle who is nearly as intelligent and old as him. I just think it would be fab. Ok, I'm getting way too much into this.

For one hour today I was without my internet connection! 

This was completely unacceptable!  For a house with one desktop, three laptops, a playstation 3, and several people with RAGING internet addictions, there was a near-panic.

I spoke to the people at my ISP...who told me to call the router people.  After a VERY annoying attempt at getting back online, the router people told me to call the ISP again>>>>who then informed me I need to speak with router people and back and forth, back and forth.

FINALLY...i got some joker on the phone who reset everything for me and got me back online!

No, I'm not referring to my old avatar.

I'm curious if anyone here has ever used hypnosis for behavior modification. And, more importantly, did it work for you? I've been considering it for the last 7 or 8 years. But it's a lot of money, with no guarantee of success. I don't know anyone who's ever done it in RL, so hoping someone hear will have some experience with hypnosis. I asked my doctor and she said that while there was no medical evidence to back it up, it couldn't hurt to try. But it could damn sure hurt my bank account!
