Anybody read the The Mortal Instruments? I just finished The City of Ashes yesterday. So far they are alright but not a page turner.

But more then that...what is up with people saying she plagiarized something? Did she? I've read her Wiki page and her website but that is when I ran into all the plagiarism stuff.

P.S.  Anybody read any of her fanfic? It wasn't Twilight but I think she did a Harry Potter one.

 I guess most of you doesn't know that last of April is actually something of a holiday in Sweden. Back in the days people (like the Vikings) thought that during this particular day the veil between the living and the dead was the weakest, as as such this was a day to remember the dead. It was also during this day that they would lit huge bonfires in order to keep witches and bad spirits away.

As you might've guessed we don't celebrate last of April in that way anymore. Instead this is a holiday where we welcome and celebrate that the spring has officially begun. Since Uppsala is a huge student town this day is actually student centered and as such I will celebrate it like this:

In a couple of minutes heading down to this hill where I will be enjoying a champagne breakfast:

Later on I'm gonna watch those students that have been crazy enough to participate in the traditional student rafting down the Fyris river. They all build the rafts themselves and are usually wearing cortumes. I've seen everything from Gandalf to hot dogs to the Flintstones going down the river in the past.

Later on the principal of the University will hold a speach where he welcomes the spring, followed by the students putting on their graduation hats:

Which will be followed by more champagne.

And later on a barbeque.

And the evening will end with earlier mentioned bonfire (and fireworks), but as said more as a celebration of the spring than a way of keeping the witches away :p

So that's how I will celebrate my Last of April.

ok so.... i'm sitting here wondering what books everyone is reading. i always like to add more to my reading list...

i am still madly in love with this series....

in fact finishing the last book was like a breakup. it has taken me a long time (2 months) to move on.

but i have decided to finally read this.... which i really like so far...

after i finish im gonne read this... which comes highly recommended by a professor i adore...

but aside from all that i should be reading this since i have a quiz on it on monday.

This happens to be my Very First Campfire, and I can't even begin to say how well timed this Friday Free For All is (I would have just wimped out by the time it came around otherwise!).

I was just on Facebook, and saw this extremely funny/awkward interaction between a 20-something friend and a 60-something other friend's mom. I just want to say... this is why you do not accept friend requests from your known-to-be-crazy friend's moms!!!

So my question is (see that segue to the interactive portion??) what funny and or awkward exchanges have you seen online? Did you cringe or bust a gut laughing (like I did)?

So this afternoon I was hanging out with my grandma & she said, "They're going to have a program tonight that I want to look at, but I don't know if it comes on at 8 or 9."

me: "Which program is that?"

Gr: "The something something Diaries."

me: huh. Grandma's pretty much the PBS type, so they must be having something about Anne Frank or something. I whip out my phone & search "tv The ... Diaries" in Google.

Gr: "You know those people who jump at you in the dark and sink their fangs in?"

me: "Vampires?"

Gr: "That's it! Vampires."

me: "You want to watch The Vampire Diaries?"

Gr: "Well, I'll watch it if it's on at 8, but if it's not til 9 I'll probably be asleep."

me: meanwhile, my search results are up on my phone & "The Vampire Diaries" is staring me in the face, so I click to find out what time it's on around here. "Okay, it comes on at 7," I tell her.

Gr: "Well that's just grand! I'll probably still be awake at seven. I'm going to look at that program."

... I went out to dinner with Dad & when I got back I checked in with Grandma. As soon as she saw me:

Gr: "Did you look at that scary program?"

me: "No, I missed it. I was at dinner. Did you watch it?"

Gr: "Yeah."

me: "Well, was it any good?"

Gr: "It was pretty good, but now I can't sleep."

Thus ends my compelling tale. The moral of the story: octogenarians shouldn't watch the CW without being accompanied by a minor.

I've been a lurker for a long time, and I really like it here, but I have a few questions about what can be posted.

is it okay to post about stories I find about Twilight actors in tabloids or do we have to know they're true in order to post it?

Because sometimes I'm not sure if the stories that are here are true or if they are jokes.

Sometimes I see campfires that say "Ranger Approved"-- which Ranger am I supposed to contact, and how do I contact them?

Yes, I went there. I would never date the man....ever. All I ever hear when people mention him is "perfection". I see no perfection. It's why I love him so much as fiction. If I met him in real life? Not so much.

I do not see Edward as perfect.  I see him as incredibly flawed. He's controlling, worries worse than a mother, incredibly depressed, obsessive, incredibly self-loathing, very large temper, and yea, the giving everything up is a big turn off  to me, whether he wants me to or not. (As well as no sex)

Real life, I would never date him. I adore reading about him. He is my favorite character in the series, but in reality? I'd have an awesome conversation with him, maybe even be a pen pal, but date him? No thank you.

EDIT!: The point of the post is that Edward is not "perfect", not that I wouldn't date him...I dont' think that came across at all, my bad XD

To be frank, character I would compare him to the most?

ok i need a banner for my story. Its a Jacob/OC story. Renesmee never hapenned and E/B moved on with their lives, leaving poor Jakey poo in their dust. Life goes on and the pack is getting tired of Jakes constant moping and depressed sighs. So, they higher Sydney Gold, a professional. Professional what has yet to be determined, but the nub and gist of it is that she makes guys fall for her and then gets bitchy/whiny until they break up with her and move on with their lives. She's so wildly unlike Bella that the pack fears this whole thing will either crash and burn, or it will play out perfectly. But as Sydney gets deepr in her 'mission' she begins to realize Jacob is different. The pack may have left a few details out when describing Jake to her.
