woodstock 2010?

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 7:50 PM

I was just reading a fic wher Edward and Bella meet at Woodstock 1969 and it got me thinking...

If there was going to be another Woodstock, with artists from this day and age, who would you want to perform there?

I think that I could totally be a seventies anti-war, 'make love not war'  hippie.

I love his music

tell me campers, whats your perfect woodstock?

Yahoo Talks Breaking Dawn

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 7:05 PM

We've all been theorizing and what not... but Yahoo's front page just took it one step further.

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: New Moon

Independent film studio Summit Entertainment has got quite a gem on their hands, and its name is the "Twilight" series.

The first movie quickly became a blockbuster box-office hit in 2008 despite early concerns that the book series' rabid fan following wouldn't translate to ticket sales. The second, "New Moon," has grossed over $481 million worldwide since its premiere on November 20. The third installment of the franchise, "Eclipse," wrapped up shooting back in October and is slated to release June 2010.

With the enormous success of the franchise so far, Summit is already working to adapt Stephenie Meyer's fourth and final book in the series, "Breaking Dawn," into a movie. Currently, the studio is deciding whether or not it's best to split the 754-page book into two pictures, along the same lines as "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

According to Variety, a two-parter is the path Summit is pursuing for "Breaking Dawn," with hopes that "New Moon" director Chris Weitz will return to helm both pictures. If the two-film route does come to fruition, Summit would have to negotiate new deals with the main cast -- Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner -- since they are only under contract for four features.

But there's a bigger issue to worry about here: How will they transfer the complex and graphic storylines in "Breaking Dawn" to the big screen? With even the biggest "Twilight" fans split on whether they love or hate the book, there's no question that its content will pose a handful of problems for a movie adaptation.

"Breaking Dawn" contains -- SPOILER ALERT! -- huge sections addressing the complications of vampire/human sex, an unconventional pregnancy, and the gory birth of a half-vampire, half-human baby. On top of that, there's a chunk in the middle of the book where Jacob takes over narration duty from Bella, leading up to him "imprinting" on the newborn child (translation: The teenaged werewolf falls in love with an infant).

Nowadays, nothing is impossible with a bit of movie-making magic. From a sparkly vampire to a boy who transforms into a wolf the size of a horse, computer-generated effects can work wonders. But just because it can be done doesn't mean it will live up to expectations. Stephenie Meyer has even expressed her worries on her official site: "The one thing that I've never seen is a CGI human being who truly looks real. An actress can't play Renesmee [the half-vampire baby], at least not when she's a few days old... She would have to be a construct, and CGI isn't quite there yet."

Special effects aside, the mature and explicit nature of "Breaking Dawn" will be a challenge for the studio to keep at a PG-13 rating. They'd have to leave out a lot of the material or figure out a way to tone it down. But in doing so, they run the risk of upsetting fans. On the flip side, if the film version requires an R rating, parents may be wary of sending their teen girls to the movies. Tough call.

SMEYER, STFU. WHAT DO U KNOW ABOUT CGI??? IF U WERE SO CONCERNED ABOUT HOW SHE WOULD LOOK ON FILM... MAYBE U SHOULDN'T HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT HER!

SORRY.... SHE MAKES ME RAGE. I'LL JUST LEAVE THIS HERE. CARRY ON.

I know most of us interact through ADF, Twilighted, and twitter, but some of us use facebook to navigate the fandom as well.

It would be cool if we could add each other as friends, because it will just further our means of communication. You can post your facebook url here.

Fic Rec Awkwardward

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 5:29 PM

So, I have to admit that I am a really serious Geekward fan in any form or fashion.  The Boy In the Red Sweater held my heart for a long time.  I have a new fic rec with another deliciously awkward Edward (and it's not mine).  It's called Awake In the Infinite Cold by quothme.  It is fantastic.  It's only got 5 chapters so far, but it is a pearl.  So, if you love geeky, socially awkward, slightly mental guys this might be for you.

And here is a Daniel Gale pic for good measure.

A rose by any other name...

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 5:19 PM

So this has probably been done already, and the rangers are totally welcome within their rights to extinguish this campfire should it be redundant, but I was just wondering if you guys were willing to share who your Edward is. I pictured Edward very differently from Rob (though I do love him), and I wanna see some photos, descriptions, drawings, etc. of who your Edward is.

Another thought for discussion could also be if your vision of Edward changes in the fanfiction universe. I tend to picture my fanfictionwards differently from the books.

Here's the closest I've ever gotten to my vision of Edward:

his name is owen steuart. just in case you're wondering after this... ;)

Things are bad, really really bad...

if people take this seriously. I just came across this article and HAD to share. The article is from August so I don't know if it was already posted here or on another forum.

You Want Robert Pattinson's Sperm? Here You Go!

Very often during the day I find myself thinking, "I want to have Robert Pattinson's baby. I wish I had his sperm." Now that problem has been solved for me! Croybank sperm bank is now offering a new feature: sperm from celebrity look-a-likes. So it won't be Robert, but it'll be Robert's identical twin! We hope.

YourTango does bring up some problems with the otherwise genius plan. First of all, you don't get to see a picture of the sperm donor, so someone could totally lie about what they look like. "Hi! I look like George Clooney!" No, you look like Jonah Hill.

Cryobank sperm bank is located in Los Angeles; so all those celeb-obsessed women who shouldn't be mothers can now start popping them out like popcorn. Although, you should keep in mind that a mother's genes play a big part in making attractive celebrity children. Would Suri Cruise be as cute if her mother wasn't Katie Holmes and her father Tom Cruise? I think not.

And there is always the chance for ugly offspring. Celebs can have ugly babies too. You don't believe me? Just look through some baby photos and I'll prove it to you.

If all of this sounds fine to you, then go ahead and get you some celeb look-a-like sperm! And send me pictures of the baby! I'd love to see if it's attractive or not.

Am I the only one disturbed by this?

This is my first (and probably my last!) post...

This was published in the Irish Times magazine two weeks ago, and lets face it, who doesn't love them some Dr. Carlisle...

potty mouth

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 3:10 PM

Okay so I'm in the middle of reading a fic when Bella refers to her...girlie part and a pussy.

I had to stop reading. I mean its bad enough that Edward calls it that but that word is so gross to me.

It may sound childish or like I'm a prude but, I just cannot stand some of the slang words they use in fics.

I'm quite alright with reading the word penis or vagina. Hell, even dick or cock. (wow this campfire sounds gross)

But we have got to come up with better nick names for vagina than slick folds and...the previously memtioned word that i refuse to type again.

Please tell me some of you agree.

What are some of the euphemism you've heard that made you cringe, or even laugh for that matter?

all vamp?

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 3:01 PM

I know that most fanfiction is all human, but i am really in the mood to read some all vamp stuff.  I mean, it IS a vampire series after all.   My problem is that most of the all vamp fics I have found are utter crap (except past and pres. which I have already read).  I beg you, please recommend some well written fics to me, rated M please because I am a perv.

Thanks!!!!!!

I'm sorry. This is semi Twilight related.

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 2:33 PM

So forgive me WTVOC, this is not a Twilight-related post but in the name of Scrubs.. I urge you to read it anyway.

Now, we're all a bunch of music snobs obv. *cough* I personally hate New Moon Soundtrack *cough*

And whilst I was just chillin', wagging school, all that fun stuff, I was listening to my itunes and who should come on...

My favourite band ever.

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

So then I was thinking about how awesome they are and how Stadium Arcadium flunked and how Charlie is a lolarious song for our favourite Chief Swan and to the point....

What's your favourite RHCP song?

What song reminds you most of a fic?

Best Album they ever made? *cough* Californication*

I'm also partial to the White Stripes. Lettuce discuss.

And because I'm the resident Scrubs lover (yeah, I even have an Avvie so SHAME Kristen) hit me up with a scrubs quote.

(TO JD)
Janitor: You Look Unhappy, i like That

JD: Dr.Cox..

Dr.Cox:Newbie, if the next two words out of your mouth aren't 'See ya' then the third word will be 'Oh my god. My crotch. You've punched me in my crotch.'.
JD: See Ya!

PS, I'm sorry I can't litter this post with picture p0rn, my internet is being a toad.

Wanna lick?

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 11:51 AM

Twilight: New Moon fans who want a true taste of Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattison, the Sweet Avenue Bakery in Rutherford, N.J., has just the remedy – chocolate or vanilla cake cupcakes with edible likenesses of your favorite stars atop the vanilla bean frosting.

The $4 treats have been on sale since last month, reports Newark's Star-Ledger, which says the shop specializes in gluten-free and vegan cupcakes without eggs or dairy products.

As for the face-off between Team Edward and Team Jacob, final results are not in. But just to mix things up, the bakery is also offering Team Emmett, Jasper or Carlisle cupcakes – minimum order, a dozen.

Bella, why can't you kick more ass?

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 11:15 AM

So, I know most of us aren't exactly in love with Bella. She's... mousy and Mary Sueish, etc. etc.. Some people like that she's a plain jane- it makes her more relatable. I get that. But even if you like her, you can see how she isn't the most compelling heroine.

Still, part of me rages that this is just another example of how women characters are never written as well as the guys. In shows, I'm usually in love with half the guys, and I think most of the girls are stupid or bitches (but maybe this is just catty hatery on my part). And like, I was reading the 100 best Characters in Fiction since 1900, and lo and behold, the women are all hos a tiny minority. Of course, we weren't exactly enlightened on women's rights in 1913, but you catch my drift.

What do you think? Are women written as well as guys? If not, why do you think that is?

Or do you think that well-written women just aren't as popular as well-written guys? That we'd sooner watch guys exchanging quips than see women bantering?

And also, post pictures of kickass female heroines from TV, books, movies. To make me feel better about the fairer sex.

SAYING SEE YOU LATER... NOT GOODBYE

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 11:14 AM

OK, so I am here to talk about fandoms.

I may or may not have mentioned that I am stepping into the world of a new one on twitter today, and let's just say you ADF girls are rough (in a good way of course).

We all know that WTVOC has gone into the land of DB and Bones, and many of you are already a part of the Harry Potter fandom.

What I want to know is what OTHER fandoms have you been a part of, past or present? Have you joined communities for those fandoms like you have for Twilight, or just read the fanfiction? What was different about those rather than Twilight? Less/more drama maybe? The writing quality in comparison to Twi?

Share your experience outside the Twilight Fandom!

i haven't shared any porn for a while. i apologize

Brush with Twilight.

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 10:40 AM

Ages and ages ago, before this whole thing blew up HUGE i emailed the SM and asked her a question about Twilight-

In the book, Bella's car fishtails and then Charlie had put chains on her tires.  I wondered if it was in fact Edward who put the chains on the tires, it wasn't.  It was Charlie and I know this because she actually wrote back to me and told me this.

So.  My question for all of you:  Have you had any brushes with anything Twilight related?

Meet SM at a book signing?  See Robert Pattinson passed out in a gutter?  Have a friend who has a cousin who has a nephew whose best friend met Jackson Rathbone?

Tell me any and all of your brushes with anything Twilight related, so i can gasp and lament about how jealous i am.

Alex Day reads Twilight

Thursday December 3, 2009 at 10:06 AM

Some of you Doctor Who fans may know Alex Day (nerimon) from youtube. He's in a band called Chameleon Circuit and he sings songs about the show.

ANYWAY, he's just a really hilarious guy and I'm addicted to his video blogs and found that he's started posting about Twilight. He basically bought the book out of curiosity for it popularity and is going to read it and make comments about it in his videos, chapter by chapter. For the most part he's making fun of it but it's just too funny and his comments are completely justified. LOL It's completely entertaining and you should really watch them!! So far he's done up to chapter 4.

Enjoy!
